My little egg that could...did?

First of all...from every bit of my heart, thank you. Every comment and well wish I've received these past few days has brought tears to my eyes. I feel like I have such a close relationship with so many of you amazing ladies and I couldn't imagine getting through these past 2 years much less these past 2 days without so much love and support. GOD bless every single one of you for being so freaking awesome and for being my friends.

I arrived at the doctor this morning for my beta...first thing. They informed me that because of system issues, that I shouldn't freak out if I don't hear anything today.

Ummmm. Impossible. I've been freaking out for 6 days. No can do, lady.

Not to mention, I ran into my OB's nurse who came up to me and was like "what's going on!?!" She was shocked the other day and said they were so excited and are really pulling for me.

I called her after I left and asked her about going to another lab so I could get results today. She immediately sent orders to a lab closer to where I worked and off I went. Second poke of the day.

At that lab, they informed me that the nurse forgot to right stat, so it would be 24-48 hours.

Shiiiit, people. Doesn't anyone realize that my mental health is dependent on these results TODAY!?

I called my doctor's office AGAIN and they called the lab to make sure they were ran STAT.

Results are in. My second beta is 98. Doubling time of 36 hours.

The nurse I spoke with didn't have my file, so she thought it sounded really low. I told her it was 37 on Monday and she asked how far along I was. I said 15 dpo. They obviously don't get a lot of high strung infertiles in there much, probably because the infertiles are with an RE! She said that she'd have my doctor call me tomorrow to decide what's next.

My awesome RE from Chicago did say if needed, he'll help follow this so I can get as much assurance as possible. There was definitely a reason I liked it there, regardless of how my IVF turned out...

For the present moment...I'm on track, but I'm a long way from feeling good about this. I had amazing betas with my last pregnancy, only to find out at 7 weeks it was a blighted ovum. I also have zero symptoms, much like that one. So I can only hope that all of this, and the timing considering, happened for a reason.

Much love.

  2. Woo hoo! That's a great start :) I know you're a long way from being relaxed about this, but try to just take it a day at a time. (I know that's a lot easier said than done!) Praying for you like crazy Suzanne, wish I could give you a huge hug :)

  7. Yes, yes, yes! I'm so stinking excited about this! I know we've got like 35.5 weeks to go, but oh my FREAKING gosh, you're pregnant!

By the way, what kind of crazy people order hCG for 48 hours later?!?! Even if I was fertile AND oblivious to miscarriage, I'd be freaking out over that! Ridiculous!

LOVE YOU!!! Hugs and prayers! Hope you vomit in the morning!

  9. Today, you are pregnant. Try to find peace, comfort, and happiness in that. Easier said than done.... but you've already made it through three of the toughest hurdles 1)BFP, 2) Postive beta #1, and 3)correct doubling time for beta #2. Congrats on that! I'm truly over the moon for you, Suzanne <3

  16. Man oh man, gotta be so on top of these people to get shit done! ha!

I am so praying that your numbers continue to more than double. I know it's hard when they aren't in the thousands like some women, but pleeeease try not to compare yourself with anyone else and go all google crazy about it. We've both been at this long enough to see women with lowish betas in the beginning end up with a perfect healthy bouncing baby. And it IS all about what that number does. For now, yours is doubling so just put all your hope and energy into the progress you've seen so far. I am pulling for you in a BIG way!

    1. my BFF is currently 6 months pregnant with her low beta baby. She wasn't told her actual number for Beta#1, but that it was "questionable". Beta #2 was 54. I know everybody always has one of these "stories", but just hoping to give you some more confidence in your numbers, Suzanne. <3

  17. I read my horoscope yesterday (Wednesday) (I am a cancer too) and I don't usually read it but it said "expect good news about a loved one or child. If you don't have children the news could be about a pregnancy that is greatly desired." I think that one was for you! :) Congrats again

  20. I love, love this post! I just feel so excited for you. I know you're "cautiously optimistic", but I am just so happy that this looks like it could be it. Oh, I really hope so and I'm praying on Monday you get another amazing beta and then I def can't wait for the ultrasound!

  21. I'm a reader who has followed a little of your story, and just came across this, so wanted to share my congratulations! Also, just in case it makes you feel any better during such a nerve-wrecking time, your HCG numbers are almost identical to the numbers I had during the first couple of tests that were done (and my little girl is now a very happy and healthy 10 month old!) Your numbers sound perfect...so I hope you can relax and enjoy these exciting early days. Wishing you lots of luck and many blessings. - Mary Beth
