A little Friday humor?!

So all these ladies on the boards I'm on BC and Ovagraph keep mentioning soft cups. Several ladies even said that was what they did differently when they got their BFP. So of course, me being a little adventurous and ready to try anything, went out earlier this week and bought a little pack of soft cups. Last night, hubby and I did our thing and then I inserted my soft cup! So romantic.

So this morning comes. Um...I can't get it out. T is standing there, like, "are you going to have to go to the doctor to get that out, cause that would be hilarious". He's so supportive in these type of situations. So you are supposed to be able to hook your finger around the rim and pull it out. Well it was so high that I could touch the rim, but my fingers weren't long enough to "hook" it.

"HUSBAND!!! You're going to have to do this." He comes out, "you're kidding, right?" "Nope". So he starts to sit down next to me to do this, and he's in his running gear, I asked, "have you even washed your hands??" Oh, no. HA! Yeah, you're going to have to do that first!

So with freshly cleaned hands, husband was able to pull out the soft cup. Thank goodness. He then proceeded to throw it at me...gross. Very funny, T.

So his first reaction was "you aren't going to use that again are you?" Well...that's undecided. Cause it certainly kept all his little sperm-ies way up there close to my cervix!! We'll see come tomorrow, either way, at least he's now been trained on removing soft cups.

One other tidbit, I informed him that soft cups were actually used for women during AF. His look of sheer horror imaging that cup full of "AF" was simply priceless.

He did ask if I was going to blog about this and I gave him an astounding "oh, hell yeah!".

Happy Friday!

Update: it's go time!!!

  1. LMAO!!!! Seriously... you can't make this stuff up! The things we do... and the husbands who come save our asses when it all goes awry. What a good man! I have so much respect for him. Teehee!! Calvin would never let me live it down... but that's why I love him. The couple who laughs together, through the good, the bad, and the soft cups, stays together.

So I had crafted a response to you last night, complete with standard TTC angst, book recommendations, and the meaning of life. And then I don't know what the hell I did, but I pressed some sort of random button on my iPad, and it all disappeared. Son of a biscuit!! I said a few choice words (way worse than "son of a biscuit"), turned off my iPad, and ate an ice cream sundae. The beauty of that post can not be replicated, so we will have to settle the book recommendations and leave it at that. LOL

Here's what I've read recently and really enjoyed... I can't remember all the author names offhand:

**Talking with My Mouth Full (Gail Simmons of Top Chef fame)
**Blood, Bones, and Butter (Gabrielle Hamilton, chef and owner of Prune in New York... now I want to go there)
    **The Glass Castle
**The Happiness Project (such a good book... I read it over spring break, and it was a great reminder about bringing happiness into my life, which is not always plentiful)
**The Hunger Games and Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series (of course... hasn't everyone read them?)
**The Hypnotist (good mystery read if you like the Dragon Tattoo)
    **Sarah's Key
    **Bossypants (I heart Tina Fey!)
**Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (sounds weird, but was very good)

I have The Paris Wife on my book list, but haven't gotten to it yet. Have you read the 50 Shades of Grey series? I downloaded a sample to my Nook and read the first few chapters. I'm sure it's saucy, but it doesn't seem like it's well written. But I suppose that's not why women are reading it... ;-)

I got my peak reading on the monitor this morning, CD18. Two days later than the last cycle, so I guess that's better than not getting it at all, right? I called the doctor's office and they pushed my progesterone blood draw to next Thursday instead of Tuesday.

So glad it's Friday! Planning on finishing up the Parade of Homes this weekend. Also hope to work on some jewelry. My full-time job is a desktop publisher with HP (we're contracted with the state of Wisconsin and act as the fiscal agent for the Medicaid program). I work on forms, PowerPoint presentations, reports, etc., along with the random creative project (currently that's a poster for an MMIS convention in Boston). I started making jewelry with a friend a few years ago, so we have a shop on Etsy. I wish I had more time to devote to it, so I try to sneak it in whenever I can. I love making stuff with my hands... more satisfying than doing stuff on the computer!

  2. I am SO bummed that I'm not going to get to read last night's response. You have me incredibly intrigued now. BTW, feel free to use son of a biscuit or any other choice words of your choosing on my blog. I'm quite certain there will come a time where my words will be less than ladylike through this process and I won't be offended if you won't! ;) The ice cream sundae was a good call.

Thank you so much for the book list. I've heard of several of those and I'll be getting a few of these for sure. I did read the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series and adored it. I saw the Swedish films and the Hollywood film. Such a huge fan. However, for some reason I've been reluctant to move on to the Hunger Games. I started the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo way before it was "the thing to do"...I sometimes get turned off by the book fads...same with 50 Shades of Grey, I just can't decide about this one. I did hear that the writing was pretty awful, but if I want to have sex with my husband, I should read it. Well, in fact I do, so maybe I should. Wonder if they have an audio version. That would certainly spice up our drive from Indiana to Georgia/South Carolina and back! I may look into that.

So glad you got your peak. I figured they would want to move back your blood draw. That was why I asked. I knew before you were saying on CD 22, but if you ovulate early and go in for the test to early, your results wouldn't be accurate. The last 2 months I've ovulated over a weekend. Which meant my 7 days later was over a weekend. Each time they said come in the Monday after vs. the Friday before to ensure the right results.

I'm still getting negative OPK's, but I am only on CD 11, and I ovulated on CD 17 last month.

I'm ecstatic that it's Friday. This has been a long drawn out week. Probably because it's the first week since before Memorial Day that I've worked the full 5 days because of all our weekend family stuff lately. I love that you make jewelry. I want to see what you make. What should I search on Etsy to find your shop?

Being an accountant by trade, I at least work at an Advertising Agency which is less corporate than most folks get in my field...but I'm the only administrative person for HR and Finance and we have grown so much in the 6 years I've been here, that I'm constantly swamped. (As I sit here at work writing on my blog!) It's about time to hire some help! Especially when the owner asks me, "how connected will you be on your vacay?". UGH.

I'm ready to retire to motherhood and gardening. Doesn't that just sound lovely?

  3. LOL!! My friend Paul told me once he could totally tell I was a mom... apparently phrases like "son of a biscuit" give it away. (Though my son has figured out that this is still a swear somehow... he's too smart of his own good.) I'm prone to swearing like a sailor as appropriate... this whole process has certainly given me license to do it!!

I know, I was reluctant to read Hunger Games as well. Kids killing other kids just doesn't seem like a topic I could get in to. But I finally gave the first book a try and found I really liked it. The first book was my favorite by far. I felt the same way years ago when everyone was reading Harry Potter... out of principle, I refused. I never got around to reading all of theh books. I got to Order of the Phoenix and was put off by all the teenage angst Harry was going through. I'd say the Shades of Grey books are probably only good for getting the zesty juices flowing... no literary worth. But hey, everyone needs zesty juices, right? LMAO!

You know, I'm glad I called the nurse to confirm about what day to come in for the blood draw. When I spoke with her about making the appointment a few weeks ago, I think she was basing the day to come in by my previous two cycles (both times my OPK changes to positive on CD15). So I figured she was looking for seven days after that, but then I couldn't remember if that was the deciding factor or if CD22 was just the standard day they have women come in, regardless of when they O. She wasn't clear about that when I spoke to her. I certainly don't want to go in for a test that is pointless if it isn't being done at the right time. I got +OPK early last night, so she based it off that instead. And the peak confirmed it for me this a.m. Guess we'll see what happens next week.

I'm looking forward to next week being a four-day week. Taking off Friday and hoping to put some sweat equity into the house. Anything that will keep me from dwelling on the day.

If you go on Etsy and search by Shops, our shop is called Finding Felicity. Anne and I need to get our butts in gear and take more photos. We've got way more stuff in stock than is listed in the shop, but it's so hard to find time to take decent pictures! We're peddling our wares at the Craftacular show in Madison at the end of July, so right now we're trying to build up the stock even more. Hoping we can find time to take more pics soon!!

Oh man, I would LOVE to be home to work on jewelry, hone my green thumb (right now it's brown... I'm not great with getting things to grow), and be in total Mom mode.

  4. I love the jewelry!! It's beautiful! I'm going to definitely keep it in mind next time I need an ear lovelies! My bestie's sister lives in Madison. I've been there once and absolutely loved that town. My husband's business partner is also from Madison.

I think I'm sneaking out of this joint a little early today. We're going to see Rock of Ages tonight followed by a little mexican dinner date. I may have to even have a few sips of margarita!!!

  6. Hi Danielle! How was your weekend? Did you get ovulation confirmation on your monitor? I assume your progesterone draw is still scheduled for Thursday? Looks like our cycles are coinciding again since you ovulated late and I ovulated early. Hopefully we can get through this 2ww together relatively unscathed and with most of our sanity.

Just checking in and saying hello!!
